We love books!  Here are some of our favorites that we are reading right now.

Hope's Picks:

Pete The Cat

Created & Written by Eric Litwin

Art By James Dean

We discovered this cool cat about a month or so ago and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE him!  The simple lessons of staying calm and not getting upset when things go wrong are helping Hope so much.  As an Autistic kid who can flip out completely when something in her routine changes suddenly, Pete is helping Hope understand that "it's all good".

We ordered our Pete The Cat books through Scholastic Book Clubs.  Our homeschool group has a Reading Club through Scholastic and I am the "classroom teacher" for our group so they come delivered right to my house.  Scholastic has some really good prices and it's so easy to order from their Website.

They seem to be coming out with a. "I Can Read" series for Pete too.  Hope can read all of these books independently, but we love to read (and sing) them together.

Julia's Picks:

Ever After High

By Shannon Hale

Julia is loving this series and I am loving it too because she is reading them independently!  Julia is Dyslexic so although she is 12, her fluent reading level is only around 3rd grade.  So sometimes, she becomes very frustrated when reading a book by herself. But these books have her hooked so much that she pushes herself to keep going.  When she updates me of all the characters adventures at breakfast time, I can tell how proud she is of herself.  I am happy that she sees her hard work paying off!
